Gun Control
Not to get too verbose on this, I will quote a bumper sticker I have seen quite frequently. "Guns don't kill people. People kill people." Having said that, I honestly don't think that any amount of gun control laws are going to stop what's happening in our schools and towns. I also don't think that anyone has any reason to buy, sell, or own an automatic or semi-automatic weapon. These should be reserved for military use only. What is anyone going to do with an automatic weapon but shoot someone else? The solution to gun violence or any other kind of violence begins in the home.
As long as parents aren't raising their children, and raising them in the right way, things like this will become more and more frequent, and there is nothing the government or anyone else can do about it. "Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is [grown], he will not depart from it." Amen. -a
Manners are the Law?
Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this one. I don't think laws can replace the training children are supposed to recieve in the home, but I do think that where parents have failed the government should at least make an effort to make up for it in some way. I really don't think it would hurt anything to require students to treat their teachers and administrators with respect. It's not like it's going on their permanent record, since they are juveniles. What harm is there in inspiring a little fear in a disrespectful punk kid? :-) -a
